After re-entering the mid-size truck segment last year, the 2016 GMC Canyon is shaking up the competition once again, adding an all-new Duramax diesel engine to its list of available powertrains. The turbo-diesel engine makes no apologies as it raises the standard for the segment.
Rated at 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, the engine provides a trailering capacity of up to 7,700 lbs for two-wheel drive models. In addition to its incredible hauling capabilities, the new 2.8-liter engine is expected to provide impressive fuel efficiency as well.
Along with the game-changing diesel engine, the 2016 Canyon will also offer an all-new integrated trailer brake controller and smart diesel exhaust brake system. The engine is paired to a standard six-speed automatic transmission.
“A diesel engine was part of the Canyon’s portfolio plan from the beginning, meaning the chassis, suspension and other elements of its architecture were engineered to support it,” said Scott Yackley, who served as assistant chief engineer. “That means there are no compromises with the Canyon diesel. It offers exceptional capability delivered with a confident feeling of control.”
Mark your calendars: the 2016 GMC Canyon with the available Duramax diesel engine is set to arrive this fall.

This addition will enable drivers to utilize the amenities found on a smart phone, such as navigation, safely sending and receiving messages, making calls, and listening to music, with integration through the vehicle’s 8-inch touchscreen display.
These models will also be equipped with OnStar 4G LTE for WiFi hotspot support.

Did you know that process of painting a vehicle takes as much energy as it does to power a normal US home for nine weeks? It’s ok if you answered “no”; most people outside of the auto industry wouldn’t know either. Saving energy is a prime goal of major companies like GM, so in order to make the painting process more energy-efficient, the Orion Assembly plant, home to the Verano, created a new way to do it.
After implementing the new paint process called “three-wet,” the Buick Verano’s paint job is now more efficient than ever. The new process layers three continuous coats of paint on top of one another. Before, there was a baking process needed in between the first and second layer, which wasted energy. The original process used 2.5 megawatt hours of energy, whereas the new process only uses 1.
Innovative strategies like the “three-wet” painting process are always being developed by GM employees and that’s how the brand continues to be an industry leader—especially in reducing environmental impact.

Remember that game we all played as children, where we had to put the shape in the hole that matched the shape? Pyramids went into the triangle-shaped hole, while squares went into the square-shaped hole. This is a basic skill, essential for survival.
Buick is worried there might one shape we’re still confused by. The shape of a Buick! Fortunately, the brand created its “That’s Not a Buick” campaign ads to help us discern just what is and what isn’t a Buick.
Just in case we weren’t listening, they’ve enlisted the help of a very recognizable voice, that of Alec Baldwin. He’s of course the star of hit TV show 30 Rock and classic films like Beetlejuice and Glengarry Glen Ross acheter viagra a paris.
According to GM Authority, a Buick spokesperson said, “We think Alec is the perfect match for this campaign.” Watching him explain to the camera that no, a sponge is not a Buick but yes, a Buick Regal definitely is, we at Crawford Buick have to agree!
It appears GMC has been hitting the gym to not only bulk up the look of its newest lineup, but also to partner with pro athletes in its newest ad campaign entitled “Precision.”
Highlighting the car company’s dedication to accuracy and detail found in its design and engineering accomplishments, one TV ad entitled “Fastball” features a San Francisco Giants left-handed relief pitcher throwing the ball over the corner of the plate, striking out his opponent with great skill and—obviously—precision. GMC’s precision ad campaign also features Harrison Barnes of the Golden State Warriors and menswear craftsmen.
“For discerning GMC customers, Professional Grade has evolved to mean exacting attention to detail and fine craftsmanship in everything they do and purchase,” Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC sales and marketing, said in a statement. “Precision is a core attribute of the brand and is reflected in GMC’s continued momentum.”
The GMC “Precision” lineup includes the Acadia SUV, Canyon midsize pickup, Savana van, Sierra full-size pickup, Terrain crossover, Yukon, and Yukon XL SUVs, so be sure to visit Crawford Buick GMC.
According to Buick, the award specifically recognized Buick dealerships nationwide. Measuring several service areas, JD Power concluded that customers are most satisfied when they buy a Buick. These areas include service initiation, service advising, facility, and vehicle pick-up.
“Superior reliability, quality and customer service is core to every model we bring to market,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick. “Leading the market in service satisfaction demonstrates that we and our dealers continue to deliver on that commitment.”
Buick customer satisfaction is just one more thing you get when you buy from Crawford Buick GMC. Offering owners renowned luxury, incredible performance, and a long-time satisfaction guarantee, it’s easy to see why Buick is an industry leader.
The Buick brand has been proving its worth over and over again these last couple years. Most recently, three Buick vehicles won 5-Year Cost to Own Awards from KBB.com. These awards predict that these vehicles—the 2015 Enclave, Encore, and Verano—will have the lowest cost of ownership of any vehicle in their segment over the next five years.
The awards are a validation of the value and excellence of the Buick brand’s product line. The Buick Enclave boasts an especially strong résumé. Not only did it win a Cost to Own award, but it also recently completed a second consecutive record sales year. “The Enclave has also been a cornerstone of Buick’s product renaissance, which saw a second consecutive year of record global sales in 2014,” Duncan Aldred, Buick vice president, said.”
The Enclave’s sales will likely increase this year too, partly due to awards like the 5-Year Cost to Own. It’s the most affordable and excellent vehicle in the Luxury Full-Size SUV/Crossover segment. And remember—it’s just one of three different vehicles that won these great awards. Come see us here at Crawford Buick GMC to learn more.
Buick is ready to have a bit of fun in 2015 by offering its first convertible model in 25 years. The new Buick Cascada convertible, which debuted last week at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, combines a topless silhouette with a fun-to-drive powertrain to yield one of the best cruising vehicles in the industry.
“The new, 2016 Buick Cascada is a beautiful, engaging convertible that represents the very best of the brand’s global development practices,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick. “It’s a car that will delight customers with its fun spirit and help drive the momentum that’s fueling Buick’s success.”
Buick creates the Cascada’s fun spirit with a 2+2 seating configuration, which provides plenty of room for passengers of all shapes and sizes. The car’s 1.6-liter turbocharged engine churns out a peppy 200 horsepower, making the Cascada fun to drive. The interior creates a comfortable, connected atmosphere with General Motors’ OnStar 4G LTE and a seven-inch color touchscreen.
The newest addition to Buick’s lineup will arrive in dealerships in early 2016. Until then, make sure you check back with Crawford Buick GMC for updates on the new Buick Cascada convertible.
Every week at GM’s testing facilities, the Buick IntelliLink system has its touchscreen buttons pushed more than 2 million times. This is to ensure that the system responds to drivers every time they get behind the wheel.
The IntelliLink system is able to complete multiple functions at the same time, including navigating your route, adjusting climate controls, playing your music, and even placing phone calls. With so many things happening at the same time, the computer system can sometimes get overworked, which is why GM engineers put the system through exhaustive testing.
A “state-of-the-art automated test bench” is connected to the system and runs it through tests faster than any human can. It can simulate 210 days of continuous in-car use all within one week.
“We test our systems in real vehicles, but as humans, we can only log so many hours inside a car,” said Robert Rimkus, engineering group manager for GM’s Next Generation Infotainment systems, in a statement. “These automated test stations help us push IntelliLink to its limits, ensuring customers get a system that’s consistently reliable in their own vehicles.”
The automated tests aren’t just mashing buttons; they are taking real world scenarios and working through them—an example includes the inputs a driver would make during a road trip from Detroit to Chicago. With these real world tests, engineers are able to make sure everything works the way it should.
Come check out the Buick IntelliLink system yourself in any one of the Buick models available now at Crawford Buick GMC.
