GM’s Third Quarter Sales Break 34-Year Record

All of General Motors’ hard work this year has paid off. With nearly 2.5 million vehicles sold from July through September, the auto company reported its best global sales for the third quarter since 1980.

General Motors’ two biggest markets, the U.S. and China, experienced 8 and 14 percent growth, respectively, over GM’s third quarter sales from last year.

“GM delivered its best third quarter global sales in 34 years thanks to solid growth in the United States and China, and steady improvement in Opel’s market share,” said Mary Barra, General Motors CEO.

“We have launches now underway, including the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon in North America, the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa in Europe, and the Buick Envision and Cadillac ATS-L in China, that will keep our momentum going.”

So what were you doing back in 1980? Your style was likely much different the last time GM reached the same volume of consumers with new products during the third quarter. You were possibly on the cusp of rolled-jean greatness or sporting leg warmers so bright they couldn’t be missed. Or maybe you were yet to be born. Either way, it’s been a while since we’ve seen numbers like these for GM’s third quarter sales, and we at Crawford Buick GMC want to say thank you for playing your part in allowing us to break a 34-year-old record.

Today, most automotive brands are lucky to have even one good truck in their lineup. GMC, however, is an outlier; with the upcoming release of the all-new 2015 GMC Canyon, there will be three great trucks in GMC’s truck lineup. From the Sierra to the Sierra Denali and back down to the upcoming midsize Canyon, the brand will have the perfect truck for anyone and everyone.

The spotlight is switching to the all-new Canyon, which fills in the gaping hole in the midsize truck segment in America. “The all-new Canyon is the segment’s first premium midsize truck, delivering class-leading capabilities with the brand’s signature refinement,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “It’s an efficiently sized, maneuverable package for customers who want the cargo-hauling and trailering versatility of a truck without the size of a full-size pickup.”

Don’t let the word “midsize” fool you, though. The new Canyon will be crazy capable. It will come with a 2.5-liter engine and 200 horsepower, but you can even upgrade to a 3.6-liter V6 engine to get up to 305 horsepower. With all that power, you will be able to haul up to 7,000 lbs and tackle literally any task you can put before this truck. So, come see us at Crawford Buick GMC once the Canyon hits our dealership to check out all three of GMC’s outstanding trucks!

GMC Sierra 3500 Named Ultimate One-Ton Truck

It’s the ultimate question among truck-lovers: which truck is the best? Ask anyone with any kind of experience with trucks and you’ll get a pretty biased answer about their personal favorite truck.

Sierra Ultimate One-Ton Truck

But what happens when you objectively compare all of the one-ton trucks on the market to determine the ultimate champion? That’s exactly what PickupTruck.com set out to do.

They created a tough set of 19 tests and paired it with judged criteria to determine what we here at Crawford Buick GMC already knew: the GMC Sierra 3500 is the Ultimate One-Ton Truck.

The Sierra won the competition by a clear margin by having the smoothest and most comfortable ride and the best fuel economy, even when towing a 20,000 pound trailer from Las Vegas to Denver. However, the interior with its multimedia interface along with the 8-inch navigation screen pushed the Sierra over the edge to ensure the victory.

The Sierra managed to beat out all of its competitors even while being the least expensive truck in the competition.

The Canyon Delivers the Best of Both Worlds

By now, we’re sure that you have heard that GMC has a new midsize pickup on the horizon. The 2015 GMC Canyon was built to show you that good things really do come in small packages. Although the Canyon will be the little sister of the Sierra, the Canyon packs many features that will help you with work or adventure.

First up, the GMC Canyon is powered by your choice of a 2.5-liter I-4 engine or a more powerful 3.6-liter V6. In 2015, the Canyon will also be available with a 2.8-liter Duramax® turbo-diesel engine for even more power and torque. With a smaller engine size than its big sister, the Canyon delivers great fuel efficiency which puts a little extra money in your wallet.

Many drivers don’t need the capability of a full size pickup. Instead, drivers prefer something smaller and easier to navigate. That’s where the Canyon comes in! The Canyon delivers the best of both worlds. With a smaller stance, the GMC Canyon can fit in almost any garage. It also has a great turning radius of only 41 feet.

The team here at Crawford Buick GMC cannot wait to see what this midsize pickup has in store! It will be available on our lot sometime this fall, but if you would like to know more now give us a ring at (915) 778-7781 or stop by GMC’s website for a full workup!

2014 Sierra and Sierra Denali Among First Pickups to Receive Five-Star Safety Score

2014 SierraBeginning with the 2011 model year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) changed its New Car Assessment Program to include new requirements for vehicles to pass into order to receive the highest possible five-star overall safety rating. Since this new rating system was implemented, no pickup truck has ever attained this five-star score…until now. The all-new 2014 GMC Sierra and Sierra Denali (along with their Chevy Silverado cousin) are the first pickup trucks to receive a five-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety from the NHTSA.

Redesigned inside and out for the 2014 model year, the GMC Sierra mixes rugged styling cues with proven power and dependability. The advanced technologies and tech specs on the 2014 Sierra make it the best Sierra yet. Standard safety features on the base model include daytime running lights, StabiliTrak stability control system, tire pressure monitoring system, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, and dual-stage frontal and seat mounted air bags for driver and passenger. Additional available safety features include a rear vision camera, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and safety alert seats that vibrate pulses to warn the driver of potential traffic danger.

“Safety is as important to truck buyers as it is to car buyers,” said Gay Kent, GM general director of Vehicle Safety and Crashworthiness. “Silverado and Sierra set a benchmark for pickup truck safety by offering a full array of advanced features designed to protect occupants before, during, and after a collision.”

At Crawford Buick GMC, your safety is very important to us. So let us help you get into a top safety rated 2014 GMC Sierra pickup today. Visit our El Paso dealership in person or online at www.crawfordbuickgmc.com.

GMC Vehicles to Appear On-Field in Madden NFL 25

Madden GMCGMC is proud to be the official vehicle of the National Football League; their partnership has resulted in, among other things, the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year Award, which recognizes top performances by players such as Tony Romo, Adrian Peterson, and 2012 award-winner Torrey Smith.

Now GMC’s involvement in all things NFL is taking the next natural step into the digital realm and onto the field for the twenty-fifth annual installment of the number one leading cause of fake sick days in the nation: EA Sports’ Madden franchise.

Madden NFL 25, which will hit stores August 27 of this year, will have GMC as its official vehicle and will utilize the digital likenesses of the all-new 2014 GMC Sierra and current-year model Yukon, Acadia, and Terrain.  It’s fitting then, given that last year’s installment featured Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson on its cover and this year’s current-gen versions will feature legendary Lions RB Barry Sanders, that the Detroit-made 2014 Sierra Denali will be awarded to the in-game Super Bowl MVP.

Additionally, the GMC/EA Sports/NFL triumvirate is offering Madden fans the opportunity to win tickets to EA’s Tiburon studio in Orlando, Fla., where they’ll spend the day with programmers and feasting their eyes on the game before it becomes available to the public.  Details on the contest, which runs through August 1, can be found at www.GMCMadden.com/NFL.

Here at Crawford Buick GMC, we’ve got great deals on new and current GMC Sierra, Yukon, Acadia, and Terrain, the latter three of which offer available with rear seat entertainment system that will enable you to play Madden NFL 25 on the go.

If you’re one of the many Americans who will be inexplicably truck-sticked a bad 24-hour bug on August 27, we won’t tell.  Just rest assured you take some of that time off to come down and see us at Crawford Buick GMC; we’ll be hard at work!

Trailer Sway Control on GMC Crossovers Makes Hauling a Breeze

Trailer Sway ControlHave you ever had to pull a load in your vehicle and had it constantly swaying on the road behind you? It’s an unsettling feeling to have an uncontrollable trailer give you the never-ending fear that you may hit something or someone. The solution: Trailer Sway Control from GMC to help making towing a steady proposition. The 2012 GMC Terrain and Acadia crossovers, both of which feature Trailer Sway Control, are now on the lot at Crawford Buick GMC.

StabiliTrak stability control with Trailer Sway Control uses sensors to measure the force and motions created by unexpected side-to-side motions caused by a trailer or other device being towed. The vehicle is able to correct these motions automatically by applying individual brakes that allow the vehicle and trailer to fall back in line. Most of Acadia and Terrain trim levels also come standard with rearview cameras, making trailer hitching easier.

“GMC customers have high demands for comfort, performance, and capability,” said Robert Krause, lead trailering engineer for General Motors. “Those qualities have to stand up to the boaters, bikers, and campers who own our vehicles.”

“For most uses, there are very few sacrifices that come with downsizing a tow vehicle,” said Krause. “The vast majority of consumers are towing smaller boats and even the smallest GMC can handle a sizeable boat and trailer. Drivers simply need to match with the necessary performance level.”

Both the 2012 GMC Terrain and 2012 GMC Acadia are now available at our El Paso dealership. Visit Crawford Buick GMC in person or check us out online at www.crawfordautos.com to view photos and information on Terrain and Acadia models.
