It is a charitable organization, begun in 1976, that has “donated hundreds of millions of dollars to deserving charities, educational organizations and disaster relief efforts worldwide,” according to the organization’s website.
The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is a scholarship which the Foundation offers that helps students who wouldn’t otherwise have the financial means to attend college and obtain a four-year degree. According to guidelines laid out by the Foundation, GM seeks to reward students who’ve attained flying colors both inside and outside the classroom. That means that not only do students have to exhibit good grades, they must also show they’ve participated in extracurricular activities. Speaking to the students directly, Buick said it’s a “reward for what you’ve made of yourself and the difference you are making for others.”
More specifically, the rewards grants 50 first-time freshmen and existing college students $25,000 a year to help them as they pursue auto industry-related degrees. We at Crawford Buick GMC encourage all interested parties to apply here.
For a lot of people out there looking for a new ride, the safety of their most precious cargo is undoubdetly kept in mind. When drivers are hauling their children to school, tennis practice, or church, they don’t want to fret about whether their children are safe in the backseat. In the 2015 Buick LaCrosse, parents can relax and travel in confidence.
The folks at <a href="http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2014/09/2015-buick-lacrosse-car-seat-check viagra prix suisse.html”>Cars.com recently subjected the LaCrosse to what they call “Car Seat Check.” This is where they look at the design of the rear seat to see how well they secure a number of different car seats. These folks found a lot to like about the LaCrosse.
Cars.com’s Car Seat Check reviewers appreciated that the backseat had “two sets of outboard Latch anchors, with one additional anchor in the middle seat.” They tested four types of car seats: a booster, infant, forward-facing convertible and rear-facing convertible. The seats all “fit well and installed easily,” according to the final review. To install the rear-facing infant and convertible seats, the testers liked that they did not have to move the front passenger seat forward.
We’ve all heard of AT&T’s “It Can Wait” campaign, which aims to eliminate the act of texting and driving. Now, AT&T has introduced a hashtag (#X) meant to help young drivers notify their friends and family when they’re about to drive.
Basically, texting #X to your friends and family pauses a text conversation and lets others know you’re about to get behind the wheel and will respond to texts once you arrive. The text is a simple way to send a message that will let people know why you aren’t responding right away.
AT&T’s “It Can Wait” website is engaging and fun. It allows users to create gif memes of ridiculous messages they’ve received from behind the wheel, see all of the celebrities on Twitter who have posted the hashtag, watch informative videos, and take a pledge to abstain from texting and driving. A variety of public figures – from singer Tim McGraw to the Arkansas Attorney General have gotten behind the movement and tweeted the tag.
The “It Can Wait” campaign has changed the way we think about texting and driving. We find it highly unlikely that anyone can pick up their phone in the car without that small, but powerful phrase popping into their head. It really can wait.
Here at Crawford Buick GMC, we offer a variety of cars that make it possible to stay connected while your phone stays safely tucked away. Join over 5 million other people at www.itcanwait.com and take the pledge – then stop by and find a car that will help you keep your promise.
You’ve probably seen these funky little bar codes floating around on everything from sports posters to restaurant flyers, but do you know what they are? These quick response (QR) codes connect offline customers with online content, such as special offers and coupons, product information, promotional efforts, video clips, surveys, and so much more.
Soon you’ll be seeing QR codes on our window stickers and other areas throughout the Crawford dealership. So how do you access the information contained in a QR code? To start, you must have a camera-equipped smartphone (iPhone, Android, etc). You’ll also need to make sure you have an app that reads QR codes. There are tons to choose from in the App Store, including several free versions that work just as well as the paid versions. Select one and download it to your smartphone.
From here you’re ready to find a QR code and start scanning. Open the app and point your phone’s camera at the QR code. For most apps, you shouldn’t need to physically take a picture; simply center the QR code between the bars and the app should be able to “read” the encrypted message. Next you’ll get some sort of prompt to take you to the information concealed in the code. For example, if the code was being used to provide product information, you may get a pop up on your phone asking to open the URL to the website that is linked to this product. And it’s as simple as that!
For many families, the holiday season truly is the most wonderful time of the year. Unfortunately for other families, Christmas time is a reminder that there simply isn’t room in the budget for a new doll or truck for their children. Crawford Buick GMC wants to help make the season brighter for families in need so that those less fortunate may also experience all the joys of the holiday season.
Travis Crawford, president of Crawford Buick GMC, hopes to spread some holiday cheer this Christmas by hosting a toy drive for Operation Santa Claus, a Fort Bliss Military non-profit that collects toys year round for military and civilian families. Members of the community are asked to help by simply donating a new or gently used toy to the Crawford Buick GMC dealership at 6800 Montana Ave. (at Airway) now through December 21, 2013.
“We appreciate the service of the men and women in uniform who are far from home and we here at Crawford Buick GMC are happy to collect toys for those families in need during this holiday season,” said Mr. Crawford.
From everyone at Crawford Buick GMC, Happy Holidays!
General Motors and Ford recently signed an agreement in which both domestic automakers will share in the development of an all-new generation of advanced automatic transmissions. Wait..did you just read that correctly? Yes, you did. For the third time in the past decade, the two auto giants will combine collaborative efforts to help them both deliver durable transmissions to customers around the world.
“Engineering teams from GM and Ford have already started initial design work on these new transmissions,” said Jim Lanzon, GM vice president of global transmission engineering. “We expect these new transmissions to raise the standard of technology, performance and quality for our customers while helping drive fuel economy improvements into both companies’ future product portfolios. This agreement provides tremendous benefits for both companies.”
This new joint agreement will be to develop 9- and 10-speed automatic transmissions for cars, trucks, SUVs, and crossovers. The new transmissions will be installed in some of Ford’s most popular vehicles and in a variety of GM’s award-winning models.
