It’s no mystery that Americans love crossovers. Ever since the segment was introduced, it has essentially taken over the automotive industry. One of the newest entries into the compact crossover world is the Buick Encore, which has led the segment in sales for the past six months.
Now, the Buick Encore leads Buick’s September sales results with a 38% jump in sales over last year. And, combined with the larger Buick Enclave, the two crossovers account for nearly half of all Buick sales this past month. Individually, the Enclave saw a sales increase of 21% year-over-year—its best September in three years.
“Despite the difference in size, both Encore and Enclave deliver the core attributes – style, comfort, quality and value – customers expect in a modern Buick,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of marketing for Buick, in a statement. “Thanks to the success of our ‘Experience the New Buick’ campaign, consumers continue to discover these qualities are available in a Buick that truly fits their needs.”
A common misconception about fuel economy is that the EPA-rated mpg is the mpg you get. But in a real world scenario, your fuel saving is more dependent on driving style than any other factor, including the EPA rating.
For example, taking longer distances to brake and accelerate will not only help improve fuel economy by as much as 33 percent but also reduce tire and brake wear. It’ll even make you a safer, better driver!
Additionally, doing something as simple as managing the air conditioning can have amazing advantages. Turning the A/C off at low speeds in favor of rolling down the windows can reduce the strain on the engine, while turning it back on at high speeds and closing the windows will lower air resistance. Doing both can increase fuel saving by as much as 15 percent.
Of course, it does help to have a vehicle with higher mileage, like the Buick Encore that gets 33 mpg on the highway, to begin with—that makes all of these percentages even more valuable! Let us know how much fuel you saved at Crawford Buick GMC!
Safety and technology come together for the 2015 model year by making the rearview camera standard equipment on all Buick models. Currently rearview cameras are offered on many of Buick’s top trim levels, but we are proud to announce that they will be standard on ALL Buicks for 2015 and moving forward.
Karl Brauer, Senior Analyst for KBB says, “Rear backup cameras have become more like power windows and air conditioning. While they’re not standard on every car, yet, it’s rare to operate a new vehicle without them.” We couldn’t agree with KBB more and expect that rearview cameras will become standard throughout more and more brands because of their ability to keep drivers safe while out on the road.
The rearview camera isn’t the only new standard safety feature for 2015, all Buick models will also feature Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Alert. It is also important to note that all GM models come with OnStar’s award-winning telecommunications system.

The 2013 Encore, Buick’s all-new luxury small crossover, will arrive at dealerships early next year. Along with its arrival, Encore will bring new technology to make all-wheel drive lighter, smoother, and more responsive. Encore’s ‘Active On-Demand’ all-wheel drive system will use magnets to engage a clutch while the vehicle is at rest rather than engaging all four drive wheels after a slip in detected as is the case on traditional systems.
“A Buick all-wheel drive system has to deliver the best traction possible, and it has to do it in a way that’s totally imperceptible to the driver,” said Encore Chief Engineer Jim Danahy. “We engineered Encore’s lightweight, responsive and refined system to deliver on the expectations of demanding luxury buyers.”
Encore will employ an all-wheel drive system that is similar to that of the technology used on the Buick Enclave. With smaller weight and size than its big sibling, Encore benefits with better handling and fuel economy. Encore’s EPA estimated fuel economy with all-wheel drive is 23 mpg city/30 mpg highway.
“Technology is allowing us to translate Buick’s quiet, comfortable ride to smaller vehicles than we could before,” said Danahy. “This all-wheel drive system, like turbocharged engines and Buick QuietTuning technologies, allows drivers to experience that Buick DNA with unprecedented efficiency and maneuverability.”

Arriving at dealerships in early 2013, the all-new Buick Encore will boast safety, versatility, and fuel-efficiency that its competitors cannot compare to. With EPA estimated mileage of 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, Encore will be the most fuel-efficient small luxury crossover offered by a domestic automaker.
The 2013 Encore will be offered in four trim levels: Base, Convenience, Leather, and Premium. This small luxury crossover features all the extravagant touches you’d expect from Buick. Even the Base model comes with several high-end standard amenities, such as a rearview camera, 18-inch wheels, Bose Active Noise Cancellation, and Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system. The Convenience trim adds dual-zone climate control, fog lights, and remote start. A 2013 Encore Leather provides heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and driver’s seat memory. The Premium trim offers front and rear park assist, rain-sensing wipers, and a premium audio system.
“Encore opens the Buick brand to new groups of customers with a compelling blend of luxury, utility and efficiency,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick Marketing. “Its versatile shape, agile size and available all-wheel drive invite owners to live active lifestyles while enjoying Buick’s signature style, comfort and refinement.”
