While Europe never lost their love for the station wagon, it seems folks in the US cooled off on the idea, preferring instead the increasingly ubiquitous crossover. But that doesn’t mean the flame has become completely snuffed out here. In fact, there are more than a few people very excited about the upcoming Buick Regal Station Wagon.
So far, there is little news on this new entry from Buick. AutoGuide reports that based on a patent filing, the option for AWD on the new Buick Regal station wagon is likely.
Buick is no stranger to the format. There was a time when “Woodies,” as they were lovingly called, adorned with the side wood-paneling from which they got their nickname, were all over America’s roads. Officially called the Buick Sport Wagon, these iconic wagons were manufactured from the late 60s into the early 70s.
There will be no wood paneling this time around but the new wagon will still offer what the “Woodies” of yore did. That is, they will be the perfect answer to someone who wants something that drives like a car (like a luxurious and powerful Buick, mind you) but offers lots more interior space. The Buick Regal station wagon is set to premier in 2018.
Did you know that only 22% of Americans still used printed maps? Instead, many rely on a GPS or smartphone to navigate to their destination. If you are one of those people who would rather use a handheld device, a new Buick would be a great addition to your family. Most 2015 Buick models will be equipped with 4G LTE built in wi-fi technology so you will be able to navigate more efficiently while out on the road. The addition of 4G LTE is also great for keeping your passengers occupied during long commutes. Your family will be able to surf the web, stream movies, and download new music using 4G LTE through OnStar.
Another reason why a Buick is a perfect pick for road trippers is because of its advanced comfort and luxury. Buicks are known for their excellent legroom and personalized touch. Safety and technology come together for the 2015 model year by making the rearview camera standard equipment on all Buick models. Currently rearview cameras are offered on many of Buick’s top trim levels, but we are proud to announce that they will be standard on ALL Buicks for 2015 and moving forward.
Karl Brauer, Senior Analyst for KBB says, “Rear backup cameras have become more like power windows and air conditioning. While they’re not standard on every car, yet, it’s rare to operate a new vehicle without them.” We couldn’t agree with KBB more and expect that rearview cameras will become standard throughout more and more brands because of their ability to keep drivers safe while out on the road.
The rearview camera isn’t the only new standard safety feature for 2015, all Buick models will also feature Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Alert. It is also important to note that all GM models come with OnStar’s award-winning telecommunications system.
