For the third consecutive year, Buick set a new global sales record on sales of more than 1.2 million vehicles.
Last year’s record was 1,170,115 total vehicles, which was surpassed in mid-December thanks to record sales in China and strong crossover performances in the United States.
In the US, crossover sales increased by 3% across the industry. A whopping 40% of all new vehicles sold in the country are crossovers. The automaker has been tapping into that expanding market with capable vehicles like the Encore and Enclave, which together accounted for 60% of the Buick’s annual sales in the US. In fact, the Encore has been setting record sales for the last 23 straight months.
Sales are expected to continue rising throughout 2016 at Crawford Buick GMC. We anticipate the arrival of the Cascada convertible and the new 2017 LaCrosse, as well as the all-new Envision compact crossover that has been all the rage in China.
A new backpack, a new first day outfit, new teachers…yes, back-to-school time is full of many new things for children. But what about parents? If you find yourself in the market for a new vehicle to tote around the carpool bunch, the 2013 Buick Encore should not be overlooked.
With agile maneuverability and sporty performance, the 2013 Buick Encore is a compact luxury crossover that proves big things can come in small packages. This five passenger SUV combines comfort and utility without sacrificing power or style. Its compact size allows it to be an efficient vehicle, even with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine under the hood.
Every family with young children should make safety a high priority when car-shopping, just as Buick did when creating the 2013 Encore. The 2013 Buick Encore has been named a 2013 Top Safety Pick by the IIHS and earned a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the NHTSA.
The 2013 Encore ranked highest in initial quality in its segment during the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality StudySM. This recognition shows that the Encore delivers the high-quality materials that can withstand the test of time, as well as endure rambunctious children.

Automotive editors at Edmunds.com recently unveiled their list of The 17 Best Cars You Can Buy. This list includes cars, trucks, SUVs, and trucks from 17 different segments with a very clear definition of the work “best”: these vehicles were simply identified as vehicles the Edmunds’ editors would by for themselves. And taking the title for Best Seven- Passenger SUV was none other than the 2014 Buick Enclave.
With a comfortable ride and good handling, the 2014 Buick Enclave is the clear choice for any driver seeking an attractive, functional seven-passenger SUV. No other sport utility vehicle comes close to matching the interior space, amenities, and sophistication of this luxury crossover. eThe Buick Encore is at the top of its class, according to J.D. Power’s APEAL study released last week. The study ranked the Encore higher than every other model in the Sub-Compact CUV segment, establishing its dominance in the category after J.D. Power recognized the Encore as the “Highest Ranked Sub-Compact CUV in Initial Quality (in a tie)” just last month.
Its big brother (or is it a sister?), the Buick Enclave, ranked among the top three in the Midsize CUV category.
The APEAL study is based on more than 83,000 responses from consumers who were asked to rate their satisfaction with their newly-purchased car, based on a total of 77 attributes such as design, comfort, performance, features, and style.
“Recognizing the Encore demonstrates the effort and attention to detail given by our engineers and designers,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick Marketing. “This award reinforces our focus on putting the customer at the center of everything we do.”

The weather is warm, the sun is shining, and school is out for the summer: yes, summer travel season has arrived. Before you pack up your family hauler this vacation season, ask yourself, is this vehicle safe enough to carry my precious cargo to our destination? Well, if you’re driving any of the five current Buick models, the answer is yes. Recently the 2013 Encore earned an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety 2013 Top Safety Pick, which means all five models in the brand’s showroom now share this distinction.
To earn a Top Safety Pick nod a vehicle must score the highest rating possible in all four tests performed on it. In addition to an IIHS Top Safety Pick, the 2013 Encore also received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. New for the 2013 model year, Encore is a compact luxury crossover with high efficiency in a smaller package.
“Safety is a top priority in Buick’s product renaissance, as evidenced by receiving these latest safety accolades for Encore,” said Gay Kent, GM executive director of Vehicle Safety. “Our customers can have confidence in the safety performance of every Buick for sale today.”

General Motors and Ford recently signed an agreement in which both domestic automakers will share in the development of an all-new generation of advanced automatic transmissions. Wait..did you just read that correctly? Yes, you did. For the third time in the past decade, the two auto giants will combine collaborative efforts to help them both deliver durable transmissions to customers around the world.
“Engineering teams from GM and Ford have already started initial design work on these new transmissions,” said Jim Lanzon, GM vice president of global transmission engineering. “We expect these new transmissions to raise the standard of technology, performance and quality for our customers while helping drive fuel economy improvements into both companies’ future product portfolios. This agreement provides tremendous benefits for both companies.”
This new joint agreement will be to develop 9- and 10-speed automatic transmissions for cars, trucks, SUVs, and crossovers. The new transmissions will be installed in some of Ford’s most popular vehicles and in a variety of GM’s award-winning models.
In the past, the SUV segment was filled with gas guzzling monsters that were great for hauling around passengers and gear, but couldn’t get you very far on a single tank of gas. Fast forward to 2013 and we are now offered an abundance of great SUV choices that combine versatility and good gas mileage. New to the Buick family this year, the 2013 Buick Encore is already making a name for itself as a capable and fuel efficient compact crossover. The 2013 Encore has landed a spot on Kelley Blue Book’s recently published list of the 10 Most Fuel-Efficient SUVs of 2013.
The 2013 Buick Encore arrived at our dealership back in February. “Fans of basic Buick panache will find plenty to favor in the new Encore, thanks to its combination of refinement and comfort complemented by a bounty of standard/available features, solid value orientation and outstanding fuel economy,” wrote KBB.com Editor Bob Nagy in a review of the 2013 Encore.

With fresh and functional designs, the 2013 Buick lineup is aimed at attracting shoppers new to the Buick brand. Traditionally, the brand has been stereotyped as one you’d see parked in front of a golf course or bingo hall. Buick used to be thought of by many a brand your parents or even your grandparents would drive. Gone is that way of thinking. The new Buick lineup has been reinvented to offer stylish luxury vehicles that appeal to all ages. The 2013 Buick Encore is the latest Buick to break the mold. This all-new compact luxury crossover is currently on its way to dealerships nationwide. Autotrader.com was so impressed by the new Encore that the automotive marketplace named Encore to its recent list of ‘Top 10 Test Drive Vehicles for 2013’.
The 2013 Buick Encore is an all-new model. It has been praised for its composed handling and feature-packed, upscale interior. Regardless of trim level, each 2013 Encore is equipped with a backup camera, a 7-inch color display with Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system, satellite radio, and wireless cell phone hookup. This compact crossover also delivers impressive fuel efficiency. The base 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that powers Encore produces 138 horsepower and allows the vehicle to achieve EPA fuel estimations of 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway, some of the best estimations in its class.
As of last week, the 2013 Buick Encore began being shipped to dealerships across the country. Watch for its arrival at Crawford Buick GMC. Visit our El Paso dealership in person or online at www.crawfordbuickgmc.com for more information.
The 2013 Encore, Buick’s all-new luxury small crossover, will arrive at dealerships early next year. Along with its arrival, Encore will bring new technology to make all-wheel drive lighter, smoother, and more responsive. Encore’s ‘Active On-Demand’ all-wheel drive system will use magnets to engage a clutch while the vehicle is at rest rather than engaging all four drive wheels after a slip in detected as is the case on traditional systems.
“A Buick all-wheel drive system has to deliver the best traction possible, and it has to do it in a way that’s totally imperceptible to the driver,” said Encore Chief Engineer Jim Danahy. “We engineered Encore’s lightweight, responsive and refined system to deliver on the expectations of demanding luxury buyers.”
Encore will employ an all-wheel drive system that is similar to that of the technology used on the Buick Enclave. With smaller weight and size than its big sibling, Encore benefits with better handling and fuel economy. Encore’s EPA estimated fuel economy with all-wheel drive is 23 mpg city/30 mpg highway.
“Technology is allowing us to translate Buick’s quiet, comfortable ride to smaller vehicles than we could before,” said Danahy. “This all-wheel drive system, like turbocharged engines and Buick QuietTuning technologies, allows drivers to experience that Buick DNA with unprecedented efficiency and maneuverability.”
